This explains what Clustr collects, why, and what rights you have. Clustr is operated by Axiant Labs Private Limited, Mumbai, India.
This policy follows the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
What we collect
What you give us:
- Name, email, password and date of birth at signup
- School, grade, bio and profile photo
- School email address, if you choose to verify
- Posts, comments, messages and other content you create
- Achievements and activities you add to your profile
- Anything you send our support team
What we collect automatically:
- How you use Clustr: posts viewed, who you follow, features used
- Device type, operating system, app version, IP address
- Approximate location from your IP address
How we use it
- To run Clustr and keep your account working
- To show you relevant content and people
- To let you message, follow and interact with others
- To enforce our Community Guidelines
- To detect and stop spam, scams and abuse
- To respond when you contact us
- To send you service notifications
- To meet legal requirements
We do not sell your personal data.
If you're under 18, we don't build advertising profiles of you or show you targeted ads.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who help us run Clustr (hosting, analytics, email), who use your data only as we instruct
- Law enforcement when required by law, court order or government request. Under the IT Rules, 2021 we must provide information to authorised government agencies within 72 hours of a lawful order
- To keep people safe, where needed to protect our users or the public
- If our business changes, in a merger or sale. We'll tell you first
Your public profile and posts are visible to anyone. Direct messages are private between you and the other person.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your content and profile are removed within 30 days.
Indian law requires us to keep some things longer:
- Registration information (name, email, when and where the account was created) for 180 days after you delete your account
- Content we remove for breaking our rules, for 180 days for investigation
- Content that has been reported, for 180 days from the report, even if you delete it yourself. It stops being visible to everyone, but we're legally required to preserve it. A court or authorised agency can require us to keep it longer
Backups may take up to 90 days beyond that to clear.
Keeping your data safe
We encrypt data in transit and at rest, control who on our team can access it, and keep access logs. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we'll tell you.
Your rights
You can:
- See your data - ask for a copy
- Fix your data - ask us to correct anything wrong
- Delete your data - delete your account in the app, or ask us
- Complain - to our Grievance Officer, below
Email support@axiantlabs.com for any of these. We handle these requests manually, so give us a few days.
Children and teens
- You must be at least 13 to use Clustr
- We don't build advertising profiles of anyone under 18 or show them targeted ads
- If we find out someone under 13 has an account, we'll remove it
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 will require verified parental consent for users under 18. Those provisions come into force in 2027. We're building that now and will introduce it before it's required.
Cookies
The app uses standard mobile analytics. If you use Clustr in a browser we use cookies for login and analytics, which you can manage in your browser settings.

Stored and processed in India.
Changes
If we make important changes we'll tell you through the app or by email before they take effect.

We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 7 days. Complaints about content showing you in an intimate or sexual way without your consent, or impersonating you, are acted on within 2 hours.
